In late 2020, Surf Lifesaving NSW released drone footage of a large shark circling and coming within millimetres of professional surfer Matt Wilkinson. In the video clip, Wilkinson studies the footage and realises for the first time how close the shark had come.


In February 2016, the marine conservation organisation, Sea Shepherd, televised a 45 minute documentary criticising the shark cull conducted off the Western Australian coast between late January 26, 2014, and 30 April, 2014.


On August 27, 2015, SBS The Feed televised a segment presenting both sides of the debate around whether sharks should be culled in Byron Bay waters.


On November 21, 2018, Behind the News televised a segment treating the debate around shark control in the Whitsundays following 36 shark attacks in Australia that year.
